How do I convert PSD to PNG without losing image quality?

Does PSD to PNG conversion preserve transparency?

Transparency survives when going to PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF or SVG. Converting to JPG flattens the alpha channel against a white background — if you need transparency, target a transparency-aware format instead of PNG.

What about EXIF metadata when converting PSD to PNG?

In most conversions, camera EXIF fields such as the camera model and GPS position are not carried into the PNG. There is no setting on this page to keep or remove metadata, so check the result with a metadata viewer if it matters.

What resolution and dimensions will my PNG file have?

Default behaviour is 1:1 — your PNG output has the same pixel dimensions as the source PSD. If you need to resize as part of the conversion, use the /resize-image/ tool after conversion, or chain it with the /image-resize/ utility.

How small can the PNG file get without visible artifacts?

For JPG / WebP, quality 75-85 typically gets the file 60-80% smaller than the source PSD with no visible difference at normal viewing distance. For lossless targets (PNG, TIFF), expect smaller savings — usually 5-30% via better deflate / LZW compression.

Are my PSD files private during conversion?

Yes. Uploaded PSD files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted PNG are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.

Why is my converted PNG file bigger / smaller than I expected?

A PSD file with strong compression (e.g. heavily lossy JPG) often grows when re-encoded to a lossless PNG (PNG, TIFF), and a high-bitrate lossless PSD often shrinks dramatically when going to JPG/WebP. The ratio depends on image content (photos compress differently from line art).

Can I use the converted PNG file commercially?

Yes. The conversion is a format change — copyright on the image content stays with you (or whoever held it on the source PSD). We add no watermark, no metadata stamp, and claim no licence over the output.
